Besides being one of the most popular weight loss programs, there are many benefits of jogging outside. From a vigorous cardiovascular workout to reduction of stress, jogging is a free way to work your core, back, and one of the best ways to get the shape you desire.
Compared to walking, jogging can be harder on the body depending on how hard you want to exert yourself. You’ll want to make sure that your body can handle certain types of workouts before attempting to add jogging to your routine. Always check with your doctor if you have any doubts. Here are some of the key benefits of jogging outside every morning which can affect both your physical and mental health:
1. Adds strength to the muscles and the spine
There are numerous benefits to forming a regular habit of exercise jogging. Numerous benefits include:
- Stronger muscles in the hips, feet, legs, and even the spine
- Enhances spinal structure
- Strong circulation which helps with toxin removal and soft tissue nutrient regulation
- Improves posture and flexibility

All exercise that’s included in a routine keeps your weight maintained. After 35 years old, metabolism starts to slow down. Regular jogging will keep the metabolism as well as weight in check. Taking jogs, early in the morning, is the best way to boost your energy. When you jog on cool brisk mornings, your body starts to have better control over cholesterol level and your risk of having a heart attack decreases. Jogging also reduces the chance of having a stroke up to 50%.
5. Jogging Makes You Sweat
While sweating is primarily known to keep your body temperature balanced, sweating also obviously removes toxins, some bacteria, salt, and fatty acids from your body. Sweating not only helps keep E.coli and staphylococcus at bay, it also cleanses your skin if you jog long enough.
6. Jogging Makes You Smart (SMRT)
It’s determined that jogging improves blood circulation. As a result, oxygen is delivered to the brain faster which leads to sharper thinking. A study at Karolinksa Institute found, via soccer players, that jogging improves certain brain functions such as problem solving and memory. Other brain improvements are multi-tasking, higher inhibitions, and cognitive ability. Understanding how the epigenetic and genetic components help with improved brain function after exercise is definitely worth looking into.
7. Jogging Can Stop Anger Build-Up and Similar Emotions Including Depression
Jogging and biking are great assets if you’re fighting depression. Jogging however is also a good asset for anger management. While it may not get rid of anger completely, it will help you to control your emotions when something comes up that would normally set you off. It would be equivalent to combating heart disease with an aspirin (only the jogging is the metaphorical aspirin in this case).
8. Jogging Gives You a Great Sense of Well Being
Jogging boosts dopamine, serotonin, and norepinephrine into the brain. These chemicals that are a part of you can help you generate positive moods. We promise you’ll feel better about yourself, you’ll have a high self-esteem, and your lives and bodies will have better control.
Even if you only jog three times a week, you’ll notice an enhancement in your sense of well-being. The benefits of jogging aren’t just so you feel good about your body or yourself but jogging can also give you a better sense of community. Walking to get your kids from school or to buy your groceries can give you a small boost to your circulation system. Jogging can also give you chances to meet others in your community, especially if you’re jogging past other neighbors’ garage sales. You never know. Just jogging beside someone at the gym could turn into a lifelong friendship if you have the right charisma.
BREAK FREE FROM BAD HABITS!
For such a simple discipline for your routine, this post on jogging can seem overwhelming. I get it. Jogging can be tiring. Sometimes you may find yourself dragging your feet, or asthma can slow you down. It may be too cold on some fall and winter days (buy or use an elliptical if you need or have one). Don’t push yourself too hard when jogging. Take it one day at a time. While we usually make a preference to taking the time to enjoy the process of being healthy, do what you can to focus on the end result when taking into account the benefits of jogging outside.
